CanSkate

CanSkate is the National learn-to-skate program. CanSkate programs emphasize fun, participation, challenge and achievement. Skaters progress through five stages learning six fundamental movements. This program prepares skaters to move on to the next levels of skating, which may include figure skating, hockey, ringette, synchronized, or power skating.

Prerequisites

All new skaters will be assessed by the coaching staff and placed into the most appropriate program within the first week.
CSA approved helmets are mandatory.

Group Lessons (1 hour, 1 night a week)

- Stage 2: Glide Forward
- Stage 3: Glide Backward
- Stage 4: Edges
- Stage 5: Power

- Jump

Fitness:
- Fitness I
- Fitness II

Evaluation

Each time a fundamental movement or stage is mastered, a badge is awarded
